February 2019 Report

General Church Helping Children in Crisis

February 2019

The committee is currently slowly making forward progress implementing procedures that have greater transparency with the General Church in Kenya orphanage. We are implementing a new financial system that allows for trackable, cashless transactions (Mpesa) and building better connections between the orphanage and an outside accounting firm that is also used by the church. Our October trip established that the children are being well cared for and are meeting or exceeding the expectations held by HCIC. We were able to verify their care using multiple, independent sources. The Committee is looking at housing solutions for the orphans as the orphanage was required to remove the buildings that were used for sleeping quarters because of code violations. The committee is also looking at bringing electricity onto the property and installing a water system.–
