Why Sponsor An Child? Theresa McQueen tells us why she decided to sponsor a child in the General Church Sacred Care orphanage in Etora, Kenya.

“When I heard about the plight and the courage of the children who sought out refuge with Rev. Samson it broke my heart. Aren’t all children as beloved to the Lord as my own children are to me? It is so easy to keep that concept abstract. I cannot see them or hug them. I will likely never meet them. It is tempting to somehow partition off my awareness of the needs of others as some sort of abstract concept. “Them. Over there. What a pity. So sad.” Do you know what I mean?

But I have this deep hope in my heart that my Church [New Church] is meant to become a superb conduit for the Lord’s love, reaching out and healing the world. I am clear that it can’t be if I keep my active focus on my own little world.

The truth is…Eunice is real. She needs shelter. She gets hungry. She wants hope. She needs education to build a life in this world. She needs to feel the love of the Lord to sustain her spiritual life. “
